Answers

Answer 1 - Yes, all new racers must attend a licensing clinic before they can apply for a race license with Road Race Southwest. If you already have a race license from another affiliated organization, this will usually be recognized by RRSW and you will not have to attend our licensing clinic. For info on our licensing clinic

Answer 2 - No, you can attend the clinic on any bike, provided that you and your motorcycle meet the criteria set out below.

For you:

1. Crash-worthy riding suit. We do not require full leathers, but they are strongly recommended. Sturdy, armored, abrasion resistant textile gear is acceptable. All two-piece suits should have full zippered connections, and riders are advised to wear spine protection as well.
2. Full gloves, gauntlet style preferred, the wrists must be covered.
3. Boots, at least 8" high, your ankle joint must be fully covered.
4. Helmet: DOT or CE approved, full face style with face shield, no damage.

Your Motorcycle

1. Very good overall mechanical condition.
2. Very good tires, DOT tires must show tread grooves from edge to edge.
3. Properly operating controls.
4. Liquid cooled motorcycles must Redline Water Wetter, no ethylene glycol based engine coolant is allowed.
5. Mirrors removed or taped over.
6. Lights removed or taped over.
7. Brake lights, tail lights, and headlights should be disabled if possible, or taped over.
